On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Kaulike was killed in the line of duty.

To the Kalama family, fellow officers, and all who call Kaulike beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Kalama gave to his community and the citizens of Hawaii and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 19, 2020.

Officer Kalama, thank you for all your service. The animal who murdered you and caused so much harm is no longer a threat, but that doesn't bring you back to those who know and love you best. So long as they keep you in their hearts and minds, you will never truly be gone from them.

62nd chapter of Isaiah verse 6
Is a promise from God to his chosen people that he will always provide watchmen for our walls sentinels and soldiers who see evil coming from along way off, and lead the charge to look for good. To all of you who remain on the wall we say thank you.  There are an infinite number of ways one can pass from this world. And I can think of no better way to go then to offer up your life for the shake of freedom. The honor of standing against the agents of chaos who prowl in the shadows and to say to them you may take my life but you will go no further. I give my life so that others may live free. Officer Kaulike Kalama the community prays for you and your family. Please pray for us.
