Reflections for Police Officer Paul Dunn

Officer Dunn,

Thank you for your sacrifice for our nation. May you be with the Lord and may he be with your family.

Det. Russ Cain

March 30, 2020

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Paul was killed in the line of duty.

To the Dunn family, fellow officers, and all who call Paul beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Dunn gave to his community and the citizens of Florida and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 9, 2020.

I have known Paul for over 28 years from when we jointly served in the United States Marine Corps . Through the years there were times when we lost contact however I always regarded him as a true friend. He was fiercely devoted to his family and considered it an honor and duty to serve and both the Marine Corps and as a police officer.
Paul you are missed.
