I'm so heartbroken over Officer Winkeler's death. He was a good man, it's such a waste. To take a life over a traffic stop. It makes no sense. RIP Jackson Ryan, you're in the arms of the angels now.

In honor of my father, William John "Mac"., a retired Military Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff, miss you so much, you were the best dad ever, RIP

26 years old!!!!!! This young man only started his life and career. Any time an officer goes down in the line is a stain on society. This can not happen to any officer, much less such a young man with his whole future, gone. God bless the Winkeler family.

SFPD (Ret)

Laying down their lives like angels in disguise
They're weak but always willing
They dare to do the hard things
And in the dark and desperate places no one else goes
You'll find the heroes
You'll find the heroes
(lyrics by Casting Crowns)
Merciful Father in heaven, surround Jackson's family with a hedge of protection and open the heavens and pour out blessings in his loved ones lives. Amen

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Jackson was killed in the line of duty.

To the Winkeler family, fellow officers, and all who call Jackson beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Jackson gave to his community and the citizens of South Carolina and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 5, 2020.
