Reflections for Constable Eula Ray "Raye" Hawkins

it will be 4 years today and it still seems like yesterday.. I am glad to say I can steal remember Raye leaving my house on 12/11 and as he did as he did when he left or done with our phone call was to tell me LOVE YA SIS
It has taken me years to even go back on to the things that were being done to honor him and Raye I can always see Raye .. yall did that all for me...
everyone loved Raye and as a sister can tell you he could be a pain in the but sometimes but he was the best of the best brother.

It is 3 years since my brother was ran literally over by two thugs in a stolen truck. It still feels like yesterday except the hate for those two and their families have grown more and more. They should have received life sentences as we did without our brother.

Constable Hawkins, how tragic that these kids caused your death. They no doubt saw the whole event as a big game. The naïvete of these children has taken a hero from all who know and love him best, as well as all those in his extended family in blue.

The only two line of duty deaths in my home town were due to a stupid kid in a stolen car who caused to very good men to crash while trying to stop them. It's heartbreaking and infuriating and so unnecessary.

Brother, we mourn and honor you here and our prayers go out to all you leave behind, and most especially to your son who had to witness your passing. He too, is truly a hero, albeit a reluctant one.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

By Jon F. Hooper

"Greater love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends."
