Miss you every day my friend, my brother, my inspiration. I would not be in law enforcement today if it wasn’t for you. You helped me get through the academy and overcome the physical obstacles I was struggling with in my life at the time and everyday I put the uniform on I think about you and how you helped push me, how you had my back. You told me not to quit, not to give up, stay in the fight and for that I am truly grateful to have had a friend in you. You are truly an amazing person, I couldn’t have asked for a better friend.

To know you was a privilege bro. I miss you so much, I only wish I could have helped in some way. Your brothers and sisters here at Northampton County Sheriffs Office are mourning you, mourning the loss of a dear friend, family member, and just a all around great guy. Until I see you again bro, rest easy. -Joe

The hearts he was able to touch in such a short time, only saddens the realization that his career ended so quickly.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

THE FINAL INSPECTION:

The Policeman stood and faced his God.
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining bright
Just as brightly as his brass
“Step forward now, Policeman,
How shall I deal with you?
Hove you always turned the other cheek?
To my word have you been true?”
The Policeman squared his shoulders and said
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t
Because those of us who carry guns
Can’t always be a saint.
I’ve had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was rough.
Because the world is awfully tough.
But I never took a thing
That wasn’t mine to keep…
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got to steep.
And I never passed a call for help.
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me.
I’ve wept unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much.
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints often trod
As the Policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
“Step forward now Policeman,
You’ve born your burdens well,
Come walk a beet on heaven’s streets.
You’ve done your time in Hell.”

I DID NOT KNOW DEPUTY BROOKS, HOWEVER, I DO WORK FOR NCDPS. I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH HOW IT FEELS TO LOSE A CO-WORKER IN THE LINE OF DUTY. WE HAVE LOST SO MANY WITHIN THE NCDPS THE PAST FEW YEARS, THAT IT IS MY DUTY TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MAN. MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND CO-WORKERS. AT THE AGE OF 27 THIS YOUNG MAN ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING GREAT. REMEMBER THAT GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL. ANOTHER ANGEL RETURNED HOME.
