Reflections for Police Officer Elmer Jonathan Diaz

Officer Diaz, I never had the pleasure of meeting you, however my family has met your beautiful family. Your family misses you very much and are extremely proud of you. Their hearts are broken yet they are so caring and considerate of other families that have also lost an Officer in the line of duty. Our families have gotten to know each other and we are honored to know you through them. You were a great officer and an even better human being. Rest in peace brave warrior and may you be in heaven in the company of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I've never met you but I do know you
I know you were fun loving and danced with your cousins in those trips you took
I know your laugh
I know your love was the fiber weaving many blankets together
I know the fall out those who miss you dearly are going through
So I have never met you but I know you
You were amazing, wonderful, and hilarious
You were everything and remain to be
I hope I have helped one that was falling that you would have always caught
I hope your family finds strength
God bless

Happy early birthday

I still hate that you're gone.
The pain isn't as debilitating.
Times I couldn't walk or sit up straight.
Times I cried uncontrollably are less frequent.
I'm proud to have had you as my partner.
That last domestic violence call we took will stay engraved in my memories forever.

The second time I met with you was our academy's last day of scenario training not four hours before your last.
You gave wise words of encouragement to all of us and me especially.
You service and life, even in the final moments, set a high standard for us to live up to.
You will never be forgotten.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

THE FINAL INSPECTION:

The Policeman stood and faced his God.
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining bright
Just as brightly as his brass
“Step forward now, Policeman,
How shall I deal with you?
Hove you always turned the other cheek?
To my word have you been true?”
The Policeman squared his shoulders and said
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t
Because those of us who carry guns
Can’t always be a saint.
I’ve had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was rough.
Because the world is awfully tough.
But I never took a thing
That wasn’t mine to keep…
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got to steep.
And I never passed a call for help.
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me.
I’ve wept unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much.
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints often trod
As the Policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
“Step forward now Policeman,
You’ve born your burdens well,
Come walk a beet on heaven’s streets.
You’ve done your time in Hell.”

Here was an officer that knew he was on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. His loss is such a waste of a good officer.
