I wish there was a way to take the hurt away from your family. Each year goes by and they’re being as strong as they can. Continue to watch over them all.

Having to deal with the known and unknown comes with the task we have taken as law enforcement but to deal with it in our own lives strikes a different kind of nerve. Wish my sister could have put in more years but she was deprived that by heartless cowards. I pray for your family to include your brothers and sisters with Shreveport PD. Thank you for having the heart to serve.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Chateri was killed in the line of duty.

To the Payne family, fellow officers, and all who call Chateri beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Payne gave to her community and the citizens of Louisiana and for the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on January 9 2019.

Senseless act of violence toward this ambitious young officer. RIP, sister. We’ll hold the line from here.
