There was a demonstration down the block from me in New York City yesterday to defund the Police, to incite against the police; to hate the police. We forget the sacrifices that they make to keep us safe and free. We don't even know their names. We should be ashamed. I will try to remember Natalie's name to honor her and her family. Her loss must be beyond words or consolation. I will not even try.

I had the honor of knowing you for many years. Even in high school I knew you were special, I cannot think of another person I have ever encountered that was more kind and generous of heart, you were a beautiful soul. I watched you grace our school, helped to crown you homecoming queen and was jealous of your basketball skills. You made the world a better place every day and you will never ever be replaced or forgotten. I go to Pierce games now, the gym renamed in your honor. I cannot think of another person that could represent the Bears better than you. You presence is still there and will always be!

I witnessed you being queen of the court as well as being a phenomenal basketball players to ever wear blue and gold. Now I go the games and see your names on the front of the gym, I cannot think of anyone ever to represent the Bears! You are and will always be missed

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Natalie was killed in the line of duty.

To the Corona family, fellow officers, and all who call Natalie beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will continue to receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

I was privileged to attend Natalie's funeral which was held in the same campus building that my son Larry graduated from years ago. My grandson, born 2 1/2 months after his dad was killed, also attended the services, and it was his first police funeral. I cannot think of a more fitting person than Natalie for him to have honored.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Natalie gave to her community and the citizens of California and for the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on January 10, 2019.

Davis Police To Unveil Fallen Officer Memorial

The unveiling is being held on the 1-year anniversary of Officer Natalie Corona's line-of-duty death.

Posted on Patch News Jan 10, 2020

DAVIS, CA — The Davis Police Department plans to unveil its newly constructed Fallen Officer Memorial in a special event Friday that falls on the one-year anniversary of the death of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona.

Corona was shot and killed Jan. 10, 2019, in the line of duty. The 22-year-old officer was responding to a car crash at 5th and D streets when a gunman, later identified by police as Kevin Limbaugh, rode up on a bicycle and opened fire. Corona was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center but did not survive.

Corona was described as a "rising star" in the Davis Police Department, where she began working as a part-time employee in 2016. She went on to attend the Sacramento Police Academy and graduated in 2018.

The promising young officer whose life was taken too soon has been remembered, honored and celebrated en masse by Davis residents, elected officials, members of the law enforcement community and UC Davis students.

Corona was the first Davis police officer to be killed in the line of duty since the 1950s.
