Not a day goes by where I don't think of you. The times we could have had. You were taken out of this world to early and I never got the opportunity to really get to know you. I was only 5! Mom did her best to raise Kyran, Donna, and of course me. Tough time during the late 60's.

You would have loved your grandkids Ethan, Eli, Liam, and Emma. We love you!

DUSM Kalafatich,
On today, the 51st anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country-not just as a LEO but also when you served with the USN during WW II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I love the comment from Marshal Chris Di Gerolamo! The Bible says it best in Matthew 5:9 :) Thank you for leaving it... as it means a lot to me and my family

My father, Carl J. Kalafatich was taken from me and my family way to early. I was only 5 at the time. As I write this reflection of my father I know that there are many others who suffer as well... it is very hard for anyone who looses a father or mother... as it has been very hard for me!

A day does not go by where I don't think about my father. I look at my children Eli Joseph, Liam, and Emma... hurting as they will never know their grandfather, as I never got to know my dad. All I can do is to honor him by telling his story to my children, in hopes that he will not be forgotten. Thank you to the Marshals and the Officer Down Memorial Page for remembering and honoring him 51 years later. My dad was a WWII Veteran who served in the United States Navy. For a time he was a Washington DC police officer, or Capital Police. Later he went on to serve as a United States Marshal.

Thank you all who read and allow my father to live on in your hearts and prayers!

Semper Fi!
