I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

I pray that the Lord God of all Eternity bring comfort to all those who are mourning the loss of Officer Parise. To all of my brothers and sisters of the badge I pray for continued courage and dedication to the calling that we have answered. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." Isaiah 6:8. Thank you Officer Parise for locking yourself behind the walls to keep the rest of society safe. While corrections officers are usually unsung heroes, they are heroes none-the-less. God will not forget what you stood for and did and I will not forget your sacrifice Officer Parise. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice.
