Reflections for Officer Kirk Anthony Griess

I love you more than words can ever express. I’m so sorry you were taken way to soon from us. You were the love of my life for 27 years. It was love at first sight. From my prom to the Marine corps ball to CHP Christmas parties you always stood by my side. I will always honor you, your name and do what I need to and care for our 3 beautiful children you gave me. You will always be my Forever. I will love you until I take my very last breath. ♥️

Hey Brother, I miss you every day. I know you are watching over many of us still here. I still can’t believe your gone. Still waiting for a text or snap chat. You knew how to live life to the fullest and shared with me the ability to do that to create the memories we made. Keep watching over me and the rest down here. We will take care of the family forever. Until we meet again....

Kirk, I worked with you for a year on the same shift. I've worked in numerous offices throughout the state of California. I've never worked closer with the heartbeat of any office like you. I got to meet your wife in passing at the office and your daughter while having morning coffee. Kirk, I won't ever forget you brother...I miss you to this day and every day thereafter...can't wait to see you again brother

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over seven years. I pray that Kirk's life and death will bring glory to God.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

I pray that everyone will find comfort in Revelation 21:4, where it says "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we can see all of our loved ones again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Kirk was killed.

To the Griess family, fellow officers, and all who call Kirk beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you. I was honored to attend his services and pay my respects to the officer affectionately known as "Hollywood."

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Griess gave to his community and the citizens of California and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 10, 2017.
