I am new to this site. I was just scrolling through trying to teach my son ( who wants to be a CHP officer ) that it’s not just chases and lights and tickets. I wanted to show him that it’s a great responsibility and privilege to be part of, and that’s its a selfless job and though most victories go unrecognized, it’s the silent ones that make it all worth it.

That being said, I stopped when I saw this smile. I remember this face.. I was stationed at Travis and had been pulled over 2 times by Officer Kirk. I have to say I’ve never met an officer that gave me the impression that he genuinely cared about people’s safety as much as this guy. (after he gave me a ration of s*** for it being number 2 and a couple of cracks about the AF) lol. Didn’t get me out of a ticket but I slowed the hell down that day and everyday since.

Hats off to you Officer Griess. Thank you for embodying the idea of integrity, community and inclusion while under color of duty. May you rest in peace and never be forgotten for the all the victories, big and small.

Remembering the service of CHP Officer Kirk Griess. On this day in 2018, Ofc. Griess was likely on patrol continuing his heroic service to our nation and California, not realizing an inattentive motorist would change so many lives forever the very next day. Officer Griess is a true American hero and his service in not forgotten from California to The Sunshine State of Florida. Semper Fidelis.

I bleed blue blood, I don't know you, but I like the CHP. I send my hearts to you and your family. RIP Officer 15810. The CHP is my favorite agency and when I get info of there is a state trooper, officer, deputy in the State of California, or CHP officer down, I can't believe the news. Rest easy my brother in blue.

We came upon the accident that killed Officer Griess not long after it had happened. I was pretty sure while we waited to get passed the accident, that it was an officer down. There were all these law Enforcement vehicles going passed us to the scene. When we were able to drive by the accident, my worst fear was realized. It brought back my memories of the loss of my husband May 23, 1976. My heart went out to the Griess family. Life would never be the same for them. But know you will never be forgotten by the CHP and I will always think of you when I go by where it happened. The CHP is family and never forgets a fallen officer.

Hey Brother, I miss you every day. I know you are watching over many of us still here. I still can’t believe your gone. Still waiting for a text or snap chat. You knew how to live life to the fullest and shared with me the ability to do that to create the memories we made. Keep watching over me and the rest down here.
