It is always hard to find words to describe the emotion I feel when a fellow officer goes down. I understand that we have a hard job to do and that it can be very dangerous at times. The fact that we are always understaffed and under trained is a mind boggling thing. We need to stand together and push our respected goverments to provide proper man power and training.

My husband retired after 20 years with NYC Dept. of Corrections. We consider it very fortunate that he was able to do so. The overlooked heroes of law enforcement deserve much better from the citizens they protect. Our hearts are with you.

I feel the pain deeply. I am a correctional officer. With the long hours we're force to work. With shortages of staff. With the not knowing if your going to make it out the way you came in. I FEEL THE PAIN. The under pay to keep our family and society safe. But we keep saying it's worth it and keep doing this job day after day. TO The FAMILY I PRAY THAT GOD IS WITH YOU. THROUGHOUT THIS SAD TIME. But to know that officer Joseph Gomm has a place with God. For his work was never in vain. Please walk proudly to the beat of a solider who's job was well done . My heart will be with you all. ALLOW ME TO CARRY SOME OF THE PAIN.
