Reflections for Police Officer Anthony Lawrence Christie

Anthony, I think about you often. You were a truly great human being. You left a lasting impression on me and my family. I'll never forget those days we roomed together at the academy. You were so humble and never wanted to intrude while my wife was pregnant. We had never met someone as caring and genuine as you. You are missed every day. Much love, my brother.

Dang Christie, was reminiscing about my first year of being active duty and you were such a big part of it. When I looked you up never in a million years did I think you'd be gone. I have thought of you often as we had some great times. You introduced me to one of the most important persons of my life and you and Lewis made sure I was never lonely my first few months on the Nimitz.

So sad you're gone and I didn't get a chance to reconnect with you now that we're "all grown up".

I miss you so much Christie. I hate going to drill and not seeing you there or at least seeing that lime green Mustang roll up. Your absence has left a void that can never be filled, and your light a darkness that can never be brightened as well as you. We all miss you buddy. See you on the other side some day.

I hope everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Anthony was killed in the line of duty.

To the Christie family, fellow deputies , and all who call Anthony beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Anthony gave to his community and the citizens of Georgia and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on May 25th, 2018.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over seven years. I pray that Anthony's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

May God watch over the family and fellow officers these heroes worked with. We can only imagine their pain. But we can sympathize with them and we must support them. This is what the Patriots and Heroes looks like folks. Running to the danger when all others run away from it. Selfless and fearless to the end. They now work heavens Beat. And are in God's hands forever. Ever watching down on us all.
