Prayers for the community, the HCSO and family and friends of Deputy Gentry. The Lord says in John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

"Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (I John 3:16).

A Prayer for Deputy Sheriff William J. Gentry, Jr.:

Lord God, I boldly and humbly come before Your throne in sincere faithful and fervent prayer as we remember in this moment our Brother-in-Blue, Deputy Sheriff William J. Gentry, Jr., of the Highlands County, Florida Sheriff’s Office, who sacrificed his life in the Line-of-Duty. We recall with gratitude and respect all that he stood for in this life. Help us to live in the companionship of his spirit. May we be kind to the family, friends, and colleagues he loved; devoted to the county and state in which he served; and loyal to the causes which he championed in law enforcement. For the Scripture says: God blesses those who work for peace for they will be called the children of God ; there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends; I [Jesus] assure you, today you will be with me in Paradise, and; God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Thus, in our life, may Deputy Sheriff William J. Gentry, Jr. live on, to our great comfort, to the betterment of Your creation, and to the furthering of Your most Holy Will. Amen

We have your patrol from here, Deputy Sheriff William J. Gentry, Jr. Rest easy, our Brother-in-Blue, you are now in the hands of the Lord God.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Highlands County Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother.

IMAGINE HEAVEN…
Deepest condolences to Family, Department and Friends. Visit the web site ImagineHeaven.net for a glimpse of the Glorious Reunions awaiting. My Family Doctor, Heart Doctor and Pastor all feel many NDE visions are fully valid. All law enforcement men and women should indeed qualify as "Foxhole Christians" with their duty dangers. As Ray Comfort at LivingWater.com says "Passing is the doormat they wipe their feet on before entering Heaven.” It is our belief they will hear from the Lord Himself. “Do not fear. for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:12).

So sad some POS decided he needed to kill a cop because he was being investigated for animal abuse. Human life means nothing to far too many people. Rest in peace Deputy Gentry. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. Godspeed brother.

My condolences to Deputy William Gentry, who gave his life in service to his community. I write so many of these reflections, I wonder if they give the meaning to them I want them to convey. A life lost to a community, to a family, to a brother in blue, and a brother, all to protect the community. Not just a community, but a nation grieves at the passing of Deputy Gentry.
