RIP Sean. Although I didn’t have the privilege of working alongside you at YPD because you were hired after I left, I could just tell that I would have loved working with you based on the impression you left on me the times we’ve met over the years since. You certainly left your mark there and will never be forgotten by YPD, Cape Cod Law Enforcement and our fellow Massachusetts police officers.
The leadership at YPD has built up huge and impressive community relationships over the past ten years and I have no doubt that your death will not be in vain. They will fight hard to bring about positive change in our broken court system.
Basically, they messed with the wrong department!

Officer John Dimitres
Mashpee Police Department, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

You served well and stood admirably against unspeakable evil. Your brothers and sisters in law enforcement honor you. Finally, may the God of all grace protect the hearts and minds of those fellow officers, EMS, and hospital staff members involved in the horror of this tragedy. A-men.

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."

I remember the first time I met Sean very well. It was May 5, 2012. I was assisting the Barnstable Police K9 Unit with a K9 Demo at Bray Farm. Sean looked much younger than he was. We chatted for a while and he told that that he was in the process of becoming a K9 Officer. He had a black lab rescue dog in his car that he proudly showed me that was to be trained as his drug dog . I will miss him. A year ago, Sean got a patrol dog, "Nero" who was seriously wounded. The loss of Sean is terrible in so many ways. My sincere condolences to Sean's wife, family and everyone at Yarmouth Police Department.
