I was called out to your incident the night of this tragedy. I quickly saw you had a profound impact on your agency and community. You were admired, respected, and loved. I later found out at your service yesterday you were a resident in the city where I serve as an elected official on the San Dimas City Council. You are the type of hero we all hope is inside each of us, our neighbors, family, and friends. We closed our city council meeting in your honor last week before we knew you were a resident. You will be missed and I hope to meet you on the other side one day. You will continue to live in our thoughts and prayers and as our guardian.

I was heartened by the coverage given to the Pomona Police Officer Gregg Casillas funeral. Not often does the media give so much time to a police officers funeral and by doing so it gave many people a look into the officer's life as well as the lives of other officers. Around the world these men and women are one big family. It was great to watch this coverage. My prayers go out to his family and all members of the Pomona Police Department. God bless them all.

While We Sleep

"While we sleep the guardians of the night take to the streets
having said goodbye to those they love, each other knowing they may never say these words again
they face the evil that we run from
they dedicate their lives to those that hate them
because they wear the badge
they wear the badge not for glory or recognition
but because they were born to honor
