Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jacob M. Pickett

Thank you for your bravery and dedication to protecting us civilians from such a dangerous person. You not only gave your life but also made life possible for others by donating that which you no longer needed to sustain you. Love and generosity were your watchwords and because of that your EOW was the beginning of another's better life. There is no greater service that an officer can give. A final salute and respect from this civilian.

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Jacob was killed in the line of duty.

To the Pickett family, fellow deputies, and all who call Jacob, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you. In reading the many reflections left for you, I can see what an impact you made on so many people.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Jacob gave to his community and the citizens of Indiana and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 2nd, 2018.

Deepest condolences to Family, Department and Friends. Visit the web site for a glimpse of the Glorious Reunions awaiting. All law enforcement men and women indeed qualify as "Foxhole Christians" with their duty dangers. As Ray Comfort at says "Passing is the doormat they wipe their feet on before entering Heaven.” It is our belief they will hear from the Lord Himself. “Do not fear. for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:12).

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of Jacob Pickett who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.
