Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Mujahid Abdul Mumin Ramzziddin

The silence, now, is deafening
where once his laughter fell.

The beat is empty of the one
who knew its streets so well.

The squad room has a vacancy
no one else can occupy.

And so we stand, salute and grieve
again we say 'good-bye'.
Semper Fi and thank you for your service.

Bruce Waldo, Sergeant (ret.)
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

I had the honor of meeting Mujahid at the Gaylord National Harbor where I was one of the shift managers for the Safety Services officers. We had some great conversations as I learned that he and I were both from Philly. He was truly an upright man and a devout Muslim. My heart is broken and my prayers are for his soul and for his family.

I did not know Corporal Ramzziddin, but I know and have worked with many of his fellow officers. The Prince George's County Police Department does an exceptional job in one of the busiest and most dangerous areas in Maryland, located between Baltimore and DC. They work tirelessly and are some of the bravest and best officers I have ever had the honor or working with. Cpl. Ramzziddin is just another example of this. He was not only off-duty at home but was on restricted duty due to recent should surgery-yet when a neighbor asked him for help he immediately responded without hesitation. He set the bar high for all of us. God Bless brother./
