Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Stephen T. Kubinski

Lord Jesus, as we watch our nation’s brave law enforcement officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the law enforcement officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

I remember Steve as always being a mentor to young cops on the street. In later years it was an honor to work alongside him on patrol. I remember having words with him over some nonsense many years ago and never apologized for them to him. These are the things street cops often carry to their graves, not what they did but rather what they didn't do. Steve was always gracious and extremely beloved by everyone he came across. All I can do, ...all any of us can do to show how much he meant to us is to dedicate a prayer to him as often as we can. He is in a better place than we, and is in VERY good company. God Bless you, Steve.

I pray that everyone will find comfort in Revelation 21:4, where it says "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we can see all of our loved ones again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

Your heroism and service is honored today. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. We shall never forget our 9/11 heroes.

Rest In Peace
