Dear family of Officer Doss, my deepest condolences to all of you as you struggle to make sense of life again without your dear son, brother, husband, father, nephew fellow officer and friend. He took an Oath and set out to make this world a better place and he did, the very day he was born. His smile, his walk the touch of his hand, the way he lit up when he heard he would soon be a dad. Those are things no one can ever take from you because they are safely kept deep in your hearts. He may have joined Jesus in Heaven earlier than he should but you know right where he is and that feeling is good. You will see him again one day and embrace him and say now you can never ever again go away.

Patrol Officer (Retired) Deborah Abelson
Chicago Police Department

May God watch over the Family and Fellow Officers that put their lives on the line for us everyday. We all lose when one of these heroes fall. And this one was a terrible loss. A man who without care for his own safety did such a noble thing. I hope his family will find some type of peace during this time of mourning. God will not let them down. Keep Faith and know he is in a better place.
