To the Family of Officer Kimbrough,

My name is Student Police Officer Johns, and I have been bestowed the honor of carrying the memory of your loved one as my silent partner. Unfortunately I was not able to know and learn from him directly, but his memory and the things he stood for will both live within and inspire me. His service and sacrifice has not, nor will it ever be forgotten. I have the utmost admiration and respect his service, and will carry on his memory with merit and courage.

My Sincerest Condolences.

I knew Donnie personally. We grew up together on Hazelett Street on the westside of Detroit. Donald went to Sampson Elementary and Chadsey High School. I knew him and respected him without question. Superb guy. I honor his memory.

RIP Donnie.

I hope that everyone will find comfort in the scripture Acts 24:15-"And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Until we see our loved ones again in Paradise on Earth, please accept my condolences.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Donald died.

To the Kimbrough family, fellow officers, and all who call Donald beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I hope you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Kimbrough gave to his community and the citizens of Michigan and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 7th, 2017. He fought the good fight. He kept the faith. He finished the race.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over six years. I pray that Donald's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.
