While driving to Tallahassee today to attend the FOP State Memorial this weekend, we passed a blue line flag on 19 with a small memorial site decorated for Officer Montaad. From our fallen family to yours - you were remembered and talked about today. God Bless you and your family that was left behind.

As I said many times, you were gonna do big things. Jokes at shift change haven’t and will never be the same….Also, you’d be glad to know I’m still attempting to use less profanity….

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Joshua died in the line of duty.

To the Montaad family, fellow officers, and all who call Joshua beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Montaad gave to his community and the citizens of Florida and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 6th, 2018.

I am so sorry for the loss of Officer Montaad. It is my honor that I am representing my agency this year at the Law Enforcement Memorial as one of the name readers for those fallen Law Enforcement brothers in arms from this past year. I wanted to take the time to reach out to those that I am recognizing on this somber occasion. Again, I am sorry for your loss, to the family, the community, and the department.
