We have lost one of our Delaware finest hero's. For sixteen years this officer has endured the hardships of working overtime under very stressful conditions of the Delaware prison system only to die in this manner. I am so sorry for him and his family. My condolences and prayers for his family and for the other brothers and sisters working under such hazardous conditions. May Sgt. Floyd rest in peace.

RIP Brother! so disheartening when things like this happen. To his family I say God bless and may he give you the comfort that only he knows how to give. Thank you for allowing him to serve as he did, in his Thankless job. People that never walk that avenue do not have a clue what it takes to be a Correctional Officer of any rank.

Pray that the Lord be with this family now and in the years to come.

My brother (Donald Price) was killed by prisoners on June 22, 1976 in Canston, RI, so I know all too well what the family will be going through

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Sergeant Steven Floyd and the extended law enforcement family of the Delaware Department of Correction, Delaware.

End of Watch: Thursday, February 2, 2017.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Correctional Officers Farewell

We all know it can happen,
When we put our colors on.
It only takes an instant,
Then one of us is gone.

Day to day we walk our beat,
In God we put our faith.
'Cause we're the law inside the wall,
We keep the Public safe.

You've done the job that few can do,
Your shift is at an end.
Farewell my Brother, Rest in peace,
On you we could depend.
