The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

Officer Jake, rest in peace. There is so much evil in this world of ours and you were at the forefront in the fight to battle the evil one, and for it, you lost your life. We owe you and your colleagues for our safety. We can only thank you but only our Lord can reward you. May He immerse you in His Divine Mercy.

My family and I were former residents of the Tacoma area in the early to mid 1980's while stationed at McChord AFB. This was one of our families favorite assignments. I got to know many Officer's during that time from Tacoma P.D. A fine group of dedicated law enforcement professionals. Officer Gutierrez was no exception and sacrificed his life selflessly to protect others. God watch over your family, coworkers and the law abiding citizens of Tacoma. Rest easy, peacekeeper.

You are now patrolling the streets of gold with many other good officers who have recently ended their watch. I wish I could make it stop. I can only thank you for your service and sacrifice and pray for those left behind who have a hole in their hearts where your presence used to be; but you will forever reside and live on in those same hearts. Rest well, Officer.
