Ken,
My friend I only wished that I could have been there to have saved your life or to have changed history. I remember the days working with you and sharing a moment. You never changed as you rose thru the ranks and you always treated everyone respectfully.
I remember when we got together with a few other dedicated police officers to start what's now FOP Lodge No 27 in Corpus Christi, Texas. I know that we will meet again on the other side God has taken you home. God Bless your family and children.

Ken is and always will be greatly missed. He was an extraordinary man, father, and friend. His mentorship extended far beyond law enforcement. It's a strange feeling to associate sorrow with this gentleman as he would normally give you a reason to laugh...I wish you all could have met him...you really missed out on a great person. My prayers go out to Karen and his family. God bless him.

A Prayer for Assistant Commander Kenneth Joseph Starrs:

Lord God, you are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Brother-in-Blue, Assistant Commander Kenneth Joseph Starrs, of the South Texas Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force, was taken from us in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. Heavenly Father, as we mourn the death of our Brother-in-Blue, Assistant Commander Kenneth Joseph Starrs, show us the immense power of your goodness and strengthen our belief that he has entered into Your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs." [Matthew 5:3-10 NLT]

"For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

"There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." [John 15:13 NLT]

"Well done, my good and faithful servant." [Matthew: 25:21 NLT]
