I just wanted to make things right as it is a matter of respect to get all the informations right:

Both the sergeant and the deputy were not shot while they were walking down the driveway, they were shot after they had a little chat with the suspect and told him he was under arrest.

After being told that he was under arrest the suspect replied "no I am not" and began to walk backwards pulling out a handgun.

The deputy made the fatal mistake of trying to prevent that with his bare hands instead of pulling the weapon on his own.

After both officers were shot the suspect retrieved an AR 15 style rifle from his home and took cover behind the patrol car, next to the officers he just shot.

As he got shot by other officers he surrendered right away.

I came here to maybe get more insight on this story but to see that it is stated totally false on this page makes me wondering how that happened...

Either way, here is the right story that you can also watch on the dashcam video on YouTube.

Stay safe everybody!

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over five years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

Not long ago, Daryl came to work at the Peach County Sheriff's Office. He had met my fellow Byron Police Department employee, Detective Melanie Bickford and they fell in love. Daryl and his two children immediately joined our family. Daryl joined the SWAT Team several months ago and was very excited to be apart of our team. He was like a kid on Christmas morning when I issued his gear to him. He never missed a training session and was usually at training before everyone else had arrived. Brother, just know that your girl and your children will be taken care of by your family here in earth. You and Patrick watch over us and protect us as we continue to hold the line.
