"Big Al,"

May you and your family take comfort in knowing you made a difference in many lives, especially in the voice you gave to many children who otherwise could not protect themselves, with your many years of service in the Child Abuse Detail. Although you and I had worked together for several of them, it was not until I was a sergeant at another investigative unit, that you and I worked together on a case and I saw how quickly you were able to build a rapport with the two young alleged victims. It was refreshing to see and reflect as you worked your wizardry and truly did "the Lord's work." May you rest in peace in knowing it really was a job well done! Your sense of humor and that laugh will be forever missed... R.I.P. Sgt. Al Lopez

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

Al,
I will have continued prayers for your family, may the God of our Universe give them comfort and peace until they meet you again. We do not always understand what the man upstairs has planned, but we hold our faith in he knows best. I'm sure your job was done well here and your presence was requested. May you walk the streets of heaven with your head held high knowing your family will be looked after by so many and of course comforted by our Heavenly Father. I remember our academy days, like it wasn't 26 years ago, oh what great memories! You will be missed by so many and I know your legacy will live on. Godspeed on your new journey. God bless those who hold on to all of their memories spent with you. Until we meet again my brotha!
