Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Master Deputy Sheriff Brandon Scott Collins

The nation has lost a warrior who fought all his career for those who could not fight on their own. We lost him, but I believed highly that his soul has no regrets after fighting for justice for the victims of crime, serving and protecting the innocent.
Justice was his weapon;
Faith was his shield for 21 years in law enforcement;
Hope was his honor.
Cry for joy family and not for his passing because he did what he signed up to do. His duty assignment was done to the fullest.

What a tragic loss for our area. And so needless a death. If people would just pay attention. Our hearts go out the family and fellow officers who served with Officer Denning. May GOD give them strength to go thru this time of sorrow we all share with them. We all Americans lose when something like this happens.

A Prayer for Master Deputy Sheriff Brandon Collins:

Lord God, you are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Brother-in-Blue, Master Deputy Sheriff Brandon Collins, of the Johnson County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office, was taken from us suddenly and violently in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. Heavenly Father, as we mourn the death of our Brother-in-Blue, Master Deputy Sheriff Brandon Collins, show us the immense power of your goodness and strengthen our belief that he has entered into Your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

"For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. Our country is much less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother.

I met Brandon years ago when our paths crossed while working warrants. He was a funny, easy going guy with a great attitude and work ethic. I was shocked to hear about the incident and so saddened when I found out it was Brandon. No words can make things better, but to his family, coworkers, and friends, know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers, and that Brandon is in a much better place now. To Brandon, thank you for your service and the opportunity to have met you years ago. RIP brother, we will take it from here.

Deputy Collins, your tragic death leaves a hole in the blue family that cannot be filled. Someone may come along and full a vacancy in the roster, but no one can truly replace you, the individual. So long as your family and all who loved you best keep you forever in their minds and hearts, you will never truly be gone.
