I cannot adequately express my sorrow for Captain Melton's family and police family. I can and will, though, pray for the grace and comfort of God to overshadow this hero's loss. May you truly know the peace of God that passes all human understanding during the weeks and months ahead.

My heart bleeds for every officer that gives their lives protecting their communities. There's been far too many killings of our brothers in blue in recent weeks and we, as a Nation have to take control or we loose everything. God Bless Captain Melton, his family and his brothers at the Kansas City Police Department. And God Bless every fallen officer.

Detective Rick Johnson
DeMotte Police Department

My heart breaks for you, your family, your coworkers and your community. These last month's have been hard for law enforcement. It must feel like a thankless job. Those "people" just have no idea what you deal with on a daily basis. I'm just sick at the disrespect your profession is given. Please know, it is a few making the most (negative) noise. I'm sorry for them. You gave your life for your community. The ultimate sacrifice. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your dedication. Rest in peace, kind sole.

It's heartbreaking. Sad there is no respect. Once upon a time such a horrible crime would be considered sacriligeous. Deepest sympathies.
