On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Mark died.

To the McCullers family, fellow officers, and all who call Mark beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

Mark was also my son's fellow Marine so I thank him also for his service in the Corps and bid him Semper Fi.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer McCullers gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 5, 2016.

Brother, when we lose ANYONE in Law Enforcement it's a tragedy and/or an outrage. It's a dark time and these truly are dark times.

When a fellow 'campus cop' is taken from us, our 'division' within the Blue Family is especially hit hard. We have 'safe' jobs where nothing bad can happen. It's depressing that this theory is proven wrong so often, maybe not as often as our municipal counterparts, but there aren't as many of us to begin with.

Officer McCullers, thank you for your service to this nation as a United States Marine and as a Police Officer. You are truly a hero and so long as those who know and love you keep you in their hearts and minds, you will never really be gone.
