Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Matthew Lane Gerald

God bless you brother. As well as your family. We got it from here. RIP

Just an ordinary citizen of south Louisiana wanting to give my thanks for officer Gerald for his service to our community and to our country. Such a sad day when someone of this caliber looses their lives is such a senseless way at the hands of a lunatic. Makes me so sad to think of his family who is now without a husband, father, son. Our world needs more people like this man. Our world needs peace.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Officer Gerald, thank you sir for your service. The self proclaimed sovereign citizen who murdered you had no respect for the rule of law or your uniform. Thankfully, the racist coward who was eliminated will kill no more. Your family will be spared the agony of a trial. What a horrible tragedy for them to endure. You responded to protect others, and had to pay the ultimate sacrifice. We will keep your family and Department in our thoughts. Please watch over us as we carry on.

Thank you for your service to our great state of Louisiana. You nor your service will be forgotten. When teaching I would always speak of "fair weather " friends and "true blue" friends. Explaining that they (my students) could only truly count on those friends that were "true blue". Sir you were a "true blue" friend to all.....
