A corrections officer should be remembered not by how she died, but how she lived! A great woman has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Our country is much less safe without you. Rest in Peace Sister!

Words do not easily describe how many in law enforcement and corrections feel when they lose one of their own. My heart goes out to Officer Johnson's co-workers, friends, and most importantly, her family. I have worked law enforcement and corrections for 36 years and can say that losing a fellow officer never gets any easier. Many do not know the type of job we do or the dangers that come with it. But it is an important one, none the less. While the watch for Officer Johnson has ended, the watch for her co-workers has not. My prayers are with you.
