Reflections for Police Officer Brent Alan Thompson

For: Sergeant Michael Smith, DPD, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, DPD, Police Officer Michael Krol, DPD & Police Officer Brent Thompson, DARTPD:

Our nation is repulsed by the mass killings of Dallas' soldiers-of-the-law by an individual acting purely on his own and in a vicious and senseless manner. As Americans we have only to bear the shame of this war among ourselves and based upon nothing more than suspicion, hate and revenge for wholesale allegation, if any at all.
We regret this day and appeal to the public at large to reject such actions outside of what is in our laws and in our government and those who are appointed and elected to maintain peace among us. Many failures are apparent, but none more horrifying than a self-appointed vigilante creating only chaos and mob action by persons unwilling to permit justice to rule.
We pray for and work toward restoration of trust, honor and reconciliation to be restored to both city and nation where we each dwell and each maintain our families.
We offer a final salute to those who stand among the most courageous and fearless among us - these Dallas heroes who gave their very lives keeping others safe.

Officer Thompson, thank you sir for your service. The domestic terrorist racist coward who murdered you obviously could not face you man to man to settle his problems with the police. I am hoping that his family receives his remains in several pieces, as he deserves no respect from anyone. We will keep your family and Department in our thoughts. Please watch over us as we carry on.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them;
because they take refuge in him.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Brent was killed.

To the Thompson family, fellow officers, and all who call Brent beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you. This should never have happened.

I also thank Brent for his service in the Corps. My son was his brother in green as well as blue.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Brent Thompson gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 7, 2016

To the spouses, children, parents, extended families, brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community and the law abiding people of Dallas, Police Officer Patrick Zamarripa, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, Police Officer Michael Krol, Sergeant Michael Smith, of the Dallas Police Department and Police Officer Brent Thompson, of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Department are Patriots in eavery sense of the word. Soldier/citizens who placed others before themselves day in and out, as professionals of The Thin Blue Line. As a citizen grateful to be residing in Texas, I am thankful each day for men and women of this caliber. May the cherished memories of your love and unselfish lives sustain your loved ones in the time to come. Rest in peace. With respect...
