Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Patricio Enrique Zamarripa

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Patrick was killed.

To his family, fellow officers, and all who call Patrick beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you. This should never have happened.

I also thank Patrick for his distinguished service to our country, including 3 tours in Iraq/

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Patrick Zamarrpia gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 7, 2016

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Rest in Peace Officer Zamarripa......YOU ARE A TRUE HERO!!!!

May the Lord always be with US in our time of need.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

The 'Thin Blue Line' has been attacked, but not destroyed.

Our law enforcement officers nationwide did not cause the diminished race relations over the past few years. Our elected leaders and 'organizers' have blood on their hands.

May the police officers rest in peace and the injured heal rapidly.

Our nation must address and resolve it's problems.

God Bless America.
