My condolences to the family of Sergeant Elahi and to the other police officers injured in this incident. To the Sterlington Police Department I am so sorry for your loss.
When are people going to wake up to the fact you CAN'T drink and drive...EVER. You jeopardize the lives of not only yourself but the other innocent drivers on the road. Now lives are ruined and the pain will never go away.
So avoidable! Prayers from Merced, California.

Sergeant Elahi, thank you for your service though it was far too short and you were, in all likelihood, far too young. Well, is there a right age? No, there isn't.

So long as your family and all who know and love you keep you in their hearts and minds, you will never truly be far from them and frankly, I'm sure you'll be there no matter what.

God Bless and may your eternal rest be ever peaceful, Brother.

A Prayer for Sergeant David Elahi:

Lord God, you are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Brother-in-Blue, Sergeant David Elahi, of the Sterlington, Louisiana Police Department, was taken from us suddenly and violently in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. Heavenly Father, as we mourn the death of our Brother-in-Blue, Sergeant David Elahi, show us the immense power of your goodness and strengthen our belief that he has entered into Your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

"For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]
