Brad Lancaster the detective shot and killed yesterday in the line of duty was an amazing guy and a friend. I served on the West Platte Fire Department with Brad for a couple of years. He was a Platte County deputy then also. The first time I met Brad was on my way to my first structure fire. He was driving the pumper truck and I was in the passenger seat. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Brad looked over at me as we pulled up to the fire and asked me if this was my first real fire. I said yes and was waiting for his words of encouragement which ended up being him saying, good it's my first one too. His humor actually relaxed me and made me like him immediately. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. My heart goes out to his whole family, his department and anyone who was lucky enough to know Brad.
