Brad was a great guy--from the beginning, when we attended the academy--to when we started working at the sheriff's department together--to when he took the photos for my wedding--and in the years following when our paths met. He was always friendly, professional, squared away, honest, and hard working. He was a good man, and it was an honor to have known and worked with him. His family, friends, community and country were richer with him in it. Although it is difficult not to mourn, I am reminded of a quote:

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. -- George S. Patton
