Deputy Sheriff Gaines,
On today, the 80th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the USMC during World War I. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

My grandmother, your first cousin, told me stories of you and what a hero you were to the community. I regret never having met you but appreciate your service to your county and your community. RIP Cousin.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was also your fellow Marine.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
