I had the pleasure to go through the 141st Basic Class and have F/Sgt Portaro as an instructor. As hard as we had it there, he always felt open to talk and warm. We shared a laugh with Major Debord after i passed out in one of his classes. I will never forget that. Joe was a great instructor, troop and man. I will always have a great deal of respect for the man. Until we meet again First Sergeant.
