I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

My prayers are with you and your family. I know this time is hard fro you but I know God will get you through. This story touched me so much because my sister Office Jillian Michelle Smith of Arlington PD lost her life in the line of duty too. Their stories are almost the exact same. I am here to let you know that I am hear for you if you need anything. I understand your hurt and know what you are going through. Ashley was doing her job and protecting her city. I wish we didn't have to be apart of this new family, but we all rally together for each other and are always there for each other. Your family now has a special angel to watch over you. Sending love and prayers to your family.

Sincerely,

Jessica Smith
