Reflections for Corporal Nathaniel Alan Carrigan

What can I say, buddy? I wear your wristband and remind myself to slow down and remain calm. I've always been high strung and you were the calm logical one. Jamie Carrigan has become so great too and I know you're proud of him. I wish you were here. You'll never know the reach and effect you had on all of us. By the way, I misplaced a belt keeper the other day and I blame you. I'm sure you hid it. I love you and continue to grieve your loss like it was yesterday. Till we meet again.

Nate,

Still feels like yesterday sometimes. I'm extremely cautious on evictions now. Should have always been but your sacrifice has led me to he more cautious. Your were truly loved Nate and will always be missed. Were right around the corner from your anniversary which is hard. Just wanted to say I love and miss you.

I remember seeing this on the news and thinking how wrong it was for someone to die over an eviction notice. Saddens me to see an officer die so tragically. Praying that time and memories has healed those who knew and loved you. God bless you for your service.

I am forever sorry I wasn't there with you. I will try to make it up somehow. You were the only one who called when I was going through a hard time. The only time you got on my way was when I happened to be going down. They say that is what friends do. Thank you.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Nate was killed.

To the Carrigan family, fellow officers, and all who call Nate beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Carrigan gave to his community and the citizens of Colorado, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 24, 2016.

Deputy Carrigan - The loss to your community is almost overwhelming. They seem strong enough, perhaps because they knew you, so well, to rise up better and not bitter about your being taken from them. You made a difference, on the job and off.

Thank you for your service to the State of Colorado and especially to the people of Park County. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over five years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.
