I was part of the Honor Guard for four years and had the honor to serve at several LE funerals. I took great pride in honoring my fallen brothers. I am saddened at the loss of another law enforcement family member. You and your family are in mine and my family's prayers. I have a wife and three kids. My heart goes out to your family. I know God has a special place in his heart for those who held the line and represented the good in life. Rest in peace brother and know sheepdogs are still hard at work.

This is a sad story! I wonder if he had a bullet-proof vest!
Public Safety needs to protect its employees from harm!
He seems like a good man who gave 150% to his job,
over and above what was required!
Condolences to his family!

Sgt Goodding:

While I didn't know you personally, I remember hearing you on the radio quite regularly. To say I was sickened when I learned of what happened to you would be an understatement. Not everyone has the courage to go charging into situations with so many unknown variables as a police officer does. Your courage will be immortalized and remembered for years to come...but I wish you were still here.

Another coward laid in ambush again and killed my brother for a cowards position. The thin blue line with shine bright tonight from the candles of respect for Sgt. Goodding. It will stretch but it will not break. Cowards and thugs can not break it, terrorists can not break it, standing armies can not break it. The blue line is strong because of the metal that protects it. There is metal we can see we can pick it up, but the metal that holds the thin blue line together is in the hearts of the officers that wear the badge and that metal can not be broken. I will morn for my brother, I will cry for his family and his fellow officers that lost him. Go with God brother, rest in peace, we have the watch.

R.I.P. BROTHER Gooding!!!

Nebraska Police Officer

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Sergeant Jason Gooding and the extended law enforcement family of the Seaside, Oregon Police Department. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

A Part Of America Died

Somebody killed a policeman today
And a part of America died...
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
To his name they will add a gold star.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...
Maybe in your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side;
He answered the call... of himself gave his all,
And a part of America died...
