My thoughts and prayers are with your family brother. This was a sad day to be at work knowing my neighboring-agency police-family was dealing with losing you. There is really nothing I can say that makes anything better; this is just terrible. God bless your family and co-workers.

Doug and I were area partners back in the day, a couple of Rookies. We believed we could save the world, or at least our lil part. Doug always had a smile on his face as we took breaks at the 7-11 in Kearns. I'm gonna miss you brother.

Every time I hear of a fellow officer being killed my heart breaks. I served with my department for 29 years and retired Sept 2015. I would like to see federal legislation making it a FEDERAL crime to kill a police officer. Officer Barney you will not be forgotten.

Doug,
You were my friend and area partner. I am lucky to have served next to you. You always had a smile on your face and found the humor in any situation. You served UPD with honor and are truly a hero. You will be missed, but we will stand tall, put on our uniform and badge and serve our community as this is what you would want us to do. Miss you.
