I ran across a memorial at Veterans Park in Carson, Ca. And saw Kimberly’s name on it with other Carson residents who gave their lives. I knew a James Storm while attending Caroldale Elementary back in the early 1970s. Are they related?

While doing a search online of the 401st on a boring day I saw Kim’s picture and clicked on it. I was there that day and had made it to the motor pool and set out to my post not even knowing she was missing until we got back to the barracks. What terrible day it was.
After 35 years in LE I have never forgotten Kim or that day. She was so full of life and had a such a happy demeanor. She is always a pleasant, fun 19 year old in my mind. I’m sorry I didn’t see this earlier.

Then we served together at Fort Hood in the 401st MP Co.
I was on duty the night of the storm. I will never forget that night, great efforts were made to rescue you.

Kimberly,
It's so hard to believe it's been over 30 years since that traggic day. I will always remember when you arrived at the unit and placed in our Platoon. You were not the typical new quite Soldier, you were spunky and full of energy. While there are many great memories, one I had was as I was getting ready for an appearance board, a button popped off my dress shirt. You grabbed the shirt, ran to your room and sewed it back on. Your smile was contagious. As I went on to complete a military career, I often thought of you and hoped that you knew how many people you impacted in the time you spent with us. Though you are gone, you will "Never" be forgotten. Thank you for your service my Friend

To the Storm Family,
I served in the 89th MP Brigade with PFC Storm in 1986. Kimberly's service and sacrifice, as well as the sacrifice of your family, will never be forgotten as evidenced by this memorial.
On Saturday we will be flying a flag over our agency in honor of Kimberly's service to the military and law enforcement. I would then like the opportunity to ship the flag to your family.
Please contact me at [email protected] so we can make arrangements to get the flag to your family.
Thank you,
Glenn Kaletta

I have not forgotten you my friend. I passed by you as you were heading to the motor pool. We were all in a hurry. It was raining like crazy that day, just minutes before tragedy struck we said our hellos and promised to get in touch later. Miss you my sister in arms. Thank you for your service Kim.

I was bringing my platoon back from a field exercise. There were heavy thunderstorms and harsh rains all around us. We passed Kim and her platoon near our motorpool. As I understood it, they were deploying for low water crossing intervention. I'm not sure how much time had passed, but we are in our platoon office when we got the word about Kim. My entire platoon got to their feet, to volunteer to join in the search. We were told to wait to see if we would be needed later.
I had only met Kim once or twice, but the kids in my platoon thought the world of her. At Kim's memorial service, I saw my grizzled old combat buddy, 1st Sgt. Roy Hanna, cry.

Oh Kimberly, I can't believe it's been 30 years. It hurts like it just happened yesterday. You have some great friends that still remember you and dedicated this memorial page to you. I still remember the night the two military men came to our door. I just knew what they were there for, only I thought it for your brother. I never would have imagined it was for you. I love you and miss you with all my heart. Mom
