In the war against Napoleon, when Admiral Horatio Nelson wanted to know how many people were dead, he would yell out to his orderly "What's the Butcher's Bill for today?"

I post our Butcher's Bill on the door leading out of the squad room and docket; I update it and post the names of the most recent officer(s) killed in the line of duty right below the running totals for the year. My guys see that every day, every time they come in and every time they leave the station.

Rest assured that you and all the rest of our fallen brothers and sisters will not be forgotten in this station house.

May you rest in peace my brother, and keep Heaven safe.

I fall to my knees in prayer for the family, friends, fellow officers and community of Office Reed. I know the pain you are going through and the struggles you are facing. I also lost my son to a fatal shooting on 9/13/2015. There are no words I can say to ease the pain. I can only pray you will find some measure of peace each day. I also pray these senseless acts of violence STOP. I pray people will learn to value life...so much changes in an instant that you can never get back. So many lives impacted. It's heart breaking.

Officer Reed you are a HERO. Your work is done. Rest in peace. You are safe and no one can ever hurt you again. Join your brother at the gates of heaven. Thank you for your service and God Bless your family and friends.
