Swasey, It was my honor to work with you at UCCS. (2010-2013) You were my PTO, Krav Maga defensive tactics instructor and fellow R.A.D. instructor. I will remember our debates and our laughter as iron sharpened iron. You touched so many lives as a husband, father, pastor and officer. Your procession in the Springs was amazing but the procession for your arrival in heaven will blow that one way!

Officer Boyd Smiley

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

It is always a sad day when one of our civil servants loses their life in the line of duty, yet it is also a joyous day knowing that someone who is brave enough like you was there to face the dark terrors in this world that many people can't. Rest in Peace Officer Swasey. May God continue to serve your family in their time of need. You will not be forgotten. We salute you, and bid you safe journey. I believe your talents, and skills, not just as a Police Officer, but of who you are and what you can do are much needed in Heaven than here.

Jesus is my front sight,
Sovereign in my life.

In peace, or in battle,
He guides my warrior stride.

Jesus is my front sight,
FOR HIM NO MAN I FEAR!

Jesus is my front sight,
It was He who led me here.

Law Enforcement Officers are a unique group of men and women. Those who choose to serve on our school campuses are very special officers.
