Reflections for Police Officer Bryce Edward Hanes

The inside of a black and white is a powerful place to be. You were an instrument of strength, justice, enforcer, friend and peacemaker. You served your community with pride, integrity and distinction. You honored the badge.

Officer Bryce Hanes,
Rest in Peace Brother. I was a Deputy working Female Intake that tragic night. Hanes came in to book a female with Unusual Behavior. He was in the searching and cuff area with a smile on his face, that is hard to come by when its 1 or 2 in the morning working graves. We had a short conversation but the entire time he stayed extremely professional. He even offered to stand by and help as I dealt with this female. Anyone working the jails knows that normally patrol officers ask this sorts of questions. Just came to show what a humble person and great officer he was.
Sir may you Rest in Peace. It was a pleasure and I am blessed to have been able to talk to him.
My prayers are with the family, friends and the entire department.

Deputy Yesmin Garcia
San Bernardino Sheriffs Department

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Bryce was killed.

To the Hanes family, fellow officers, and all who call Bryce beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Hanes gave to his community and the citizens of California , and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on November 5, 2015.
