Although you were taken early God had a plan for your life. May God bless your family. We will take it from here.

I Am A Warrior

Jon F. Hooper

I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.

May you find comfort
in your time of grief
May your burden fade to peace
May God whisper words of ease
While your heart so heavy weeps
Your memories softly smile
As you feel you never can
And may God always bless and keep you
In the loss of love and friend.

I pray for the family, department, friends and community as all of you walk this dark tunnel. I have walked it also. Please know that it will get better at times and will at times seem to never get better. It will get better. I promise this. You will never forget the loss and you will always have a hole in your hearts but it WILL GET BETTER. I found in my time in the tunnel that the more happiness I remembered about my hero, the easier it was and is to walk every day with a smile in my heart. I promise all of you it will get better because the grief will become less if you will begin to remember the good times, the fun times, the silly times you had together. Remember when he made it thru his rookie year. Remember that first date -- that first kiss -- that proposal and look at your ring. Remember his handshake, his slap on the back for a job well done. His laugh at a joke. Remember him. Remember what he did that made you laugh. Remember what you did to make him laugh. Remember the Christmas gifts and the dinners. Holidays celebrated even if a day or two off the actual holiday. Remember all the good times for this is what will make the light at the end of your tunnel grow brighter. Remember also there are many of us praying for each one of those that have now joined the rank of Survivor. Do not forget to cherish every prayer said for you during this time for we will never forget you during our prayers.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
