Saw it on the CAD early this morning and I asked for God to make you okay but that wasn't the case. I am truly sorry. I hope that God carries you into Heaven. I also hope and pray that one day your son knows that you are a American Hero. In todays society it takes a brave person to wear a badge. Its a rare thing anymore for someone to say I will protect you and help you cause its simply what I was called to do. That is rare and That is a Hero. My prayers.

Deputy Vela, you have left the world with a huge void that can never be filled. Though all of us in the family 'blue' will mourn you and miss you, you have left an amazing 5 year old without a Mom. Who is to blame, the person(s) causing the need for your (OUR) fellow LEO to require back up. That doesn't bring you back though. Placing blame is easy, but losing a member of our family is hard.

Thank you for your service and God Bless you, Sister. May your rest be eternally peaceful and may all who know and love you forever keep you alive in their hearts and minds. I believe with all my soul that your son will always hear what a phenomenal person and incredible officer of the law his Mom was.

Rest peace Deputy Vela, both you and your family will always remain in our prayers. We saw you working tirelessly to make society a better place that was no to be. With tearful eyes we saw God take you to His loving home. Although you worked tirelessly society remains headed in an ever delinquent way. Thus, God made your golden loving heart stop beating and hard working body rest. God broke our hearts to prove to both society and to us, he only takes the best.
