He was not Deputy Myers, he was "Bill" to me and my family. What a tragic loss of a great human being. He loved his work and took tremendous pride in being the professional that he was. Rest in peace, my friend.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them;

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of Bill Myers who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.

It was an honor to know Bill and a privileged to serve along side him. I will never forget the good times we had in the Special Enforcement / Traffic Unit back in the day. Bill was a no non-sense ... get the job done and have fun doing it kind of guy. He operated with compassion and respect for others, a genuine Peacekeeper. My thoughts and Prayers are with him, his family, his friends and all of OCSO.

How deepely sad this makes me feel. So many years of faithful service, then returning to faithfully serve his fellow man, only to be shot in the back by a coward. May his precious soul rest in perfect peace in the presence of the King of kings. May the Lord comfort his famiy and friends.
